Which RV is Right for You? How to Decide

So you're thinking about buying an RV. Great! But now what? When it comes to RV's, there are a lot of options out there to choose from. Here is a breakdown of the different types of RV's that may help you decide which one serves your needs best before you start looking.

1. Motorhomes
In a motorhome, the living quarters are attached with the vehicle. There are three basic sub-classes:

Class A Motorhome
These are the largest RV vehicles. They are the models most athletes and stars reside in when they are traveling on roads from one city to another. This is the basic RV design that comes to mind when people hear the term "RV."

Class B Motorhome
They are the smallest RV vehicles. They are built on a regular van chassis. Full timers use these motorhomes but they are too small to live in for longer periods of time.

Class C Motorhome
These are referred to as mini motorhomes. They are also built on a van chassis. They can be as long as Class A vehicles, but are distinguished from them by an extra extended section above the cab area that usually contains a bed.

2. Towables
Towables include all kinds of vehicles that can be towed such as travel trailers, pop-up campers, fifth wheels, etc. Although they are available in all shapes and sizes, only travel trailers and fifth wheels are suitable for living in full time. Here are the sub-classes:

Travel Trailers
These are large trailers. They are towed behind the tow vehicle attached with a hitch. The towing vehicle must have a towing capacity large enough for the loaded weight of the trailer.

Fifth Wheels
These have a gooseneck front section which extends over the pickup trucks bed area. They are hitched together generally from the center of the truck bed, usually flatbed trucks or pickups.

3. Truck Campers
It is the living quarters that can sit in the back of a pickup truck.
